Fishbyte.net Web Site Reeling Visitors In

The Sandhills and Uwharrie regions have so much to offer visitors in the way of recreation, and a new web site is reeling in the anglers. Fishbyte.net LLC, based in Troy, NC, (www.fishbyte.net) is a web-based resource for fishing activities across central North Carolina. Since its launch in February of this year, the site has become the “clearinghouse” for fishing and lake information in the area in short order.

With information and schedules of nearly seventy clubs and groups on its pages, the Fishbyte.net staff covers eight to twenty fishing tournaments of all kinds per week from Lake Hickory to Jordan Lake. A large percentage of those are on the Yadkin Chain of lakes, including Tillery, Badin and Tuckertown. Traffic to the site has grown to 4,500 unique users per month and is still rising.

“Our local lakes are gaining not only state prominence with this coverage, but also national exposure,” stated Tom Sargent, editor and president. “Visitors to our site now come from all across the U.S. as we gain national attention. Anglers from all over North Carolina now make special trips to the Sandhills and Uwharrie region just to fish these waters. Vacations and fishing trips from many states are being planned because of what they learn from our site.”

While national competitions are often heavily covered by the media, local clubs and groups received none in the past. Fishbyte.net plans to change all that while casting attention on the fishing resources in this region. Coverage of an event includes “on the water” action photography with special photo galleries created for each club and group. Full stories of every event are posted on the site shortly thereafter. Those interested can follow the Fishbyte.net staff on Twitter (search for fishbytenet).
