New Ventures

New Ventures Business Development, Inc. was started in 2005 as a non-profit economic development initiative under the guidance of e-NC Authority.  Housed at the Lockhart-Taylor Center at South Piedmont Community College in Wadesboro, the operation includes an arts and business center. 

Utilizing the unique outreach concept, the focus of the economic development work is one-to-one counseling, helping entrepreneurs develop or streamline their business with a special emphasis on the use of technology.  Technical services include web site development, networking solutions, troubleshooting and general advice relative to the infusion of technology.  The e-commerce portal ebizanson.org provides online sales opportunities for clients. 

To serve the needs of the region, Olde Mill Gallery and Studios was established in 2007, a women’s center and a community commercial kitchen are currently under development.  The gallery exhibits and sells a diverse range of art produced by 48 regional artists including sculpture, jewelry, photography, watercolors, oils, and painted glass, marble, and cloth.

The Olde Mill Gallery and Art Studios was established in 2007.  The Gallery exhibits and sells art by 50 regional visual artists. QUILT  AND  ART  SHOW

OLDE  MILL  GALLERY

(Wadesboro, North Carolina)

The next date for this annual event will be November 18, 2010,  which is the Thursday before Thanksgiving.  Guests at the show will see the quilts from Anson Quilting Guild that includes antique and contemporary patterned pieces.  With a glass of wine or sparkling juice along with cheese, crackers and fruit, guests will enjoy the work of the 48 artists that are currently on exhibit in the gallery and see demonstrations in copper repousse, painting, woodcarving, copper on metal, and jewelry design.  Artists enjoy talking about the techniques of their medium.  Both children and adults are welcomed.  For more information, call Lois Crumpler at 704-272-5463.
