SOUTHPORT SPRING FESTIVAL – March 29th and 30th
Southport Spring Festival is just around the corner, Friday, March 29th from 10 to 5 and Saturday, March 30th from 10 to 4 in Franklin Square Park in downtown Southport, NC. In addition to over 130 crafters featuring their hand made goods, the park will be alive with entertainment. On Friday after the 10 am Opening Ceremonies, enjoy the music of Le Group du Jour at 10:15, Mike Parsons bluegrass and gospel at 11:30, the Southport Christian School at 12:45, followed by Al Demarco’s accordion music at 1:30, Jim Ashley at 2:15 and the oldies from Mike’s Garage Band at 3:30. On Saturday after Opening Ceremony, enjoy the smooth sound of the Brunswick Big Band at 10:30 and swing to the Dixie sounds of the Upstairs Gang at 11:45. At 1:15 be inspired by the Trinity UMC Praise Band, and the Inspirations Dance Centre at 2:30. Be at the stage at 12:45 on Saturday for the free drawing sponsored by the SPPD to win one of two bikes, car seats and bike helmets. Throughout the festival there will be 10 food vendors offering usual southern fare and treats for the unusual taste. The Southport-Oak Island Kiwanis Club will be selling beautiful Encore Azaleas, camellias, and a wide variety of early flowers, herbs and plants for your yard and garden. Saturday will feature the Robert Ruark Chili Cook-Off Contest from 11am to 2 pm celebrating its 31st year. This year will also include exciting children’s activities at family affordable prices, and a model railroad exhibit in the Southport Gym. Visit Franklin Square Art Gallery while you are at the festival. On Saturday morning, March 30th, the Kiwanis Club will host a 5K Run/Walk beginning on the Southport waterfront at 8:00. In addition runners and others are invited to a Sports Expo held at the Maritime Museum on Friday evening from 4 to 7 pm.
Southport Spring Festival is sponsored by Downtown Southport Inc. and the Southport-Oak Island Kiwanis Club, serving the children of Brunswick County one child at a time.
The festival is free. Pets are not permitted in the park.
